Virtual Power Plants in Victoria
Victoria has as wide a choice of VPPs as NSW. Retailers pay per kWh their program uses, a fixed monthly credit or a daily credit, each with its own cap and contract. Victoria has had no minimum feed-in tariff since 1 July 2025, so what a battery earns on top matters more. Credits and terms below were checked on 16 October 2026.

Where to start in Victoria
Origin Loop VPP has the longest published battery list of the big retailers and no lock-in on your own battery. ENGIE’s sign-up credit is lower in Victoria ($300 including $200 that needs ENGIE gas) and its monthly credit is about $15, so compare it against Origin and AGL on your numbers.

Victoria grid and what you earn
Victorian price spikes tend to come with summer heatwaves and cold winter evenings. Most retailer VPPs pay a fixed credit per kWh or per month whatever the price, up to their cap.

Victorian battery rebate
Solar Victoria's battery program has closed, so the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate (about $2,584 on a 10kWh battery) is the upfront discount on a Victorian battery. Solar Victoria still offers up to $1,400 on solar panels for eligible households.

Which VPP pays the most in Victoria?
It depends on how the program pays. Per kWh, Origin Loop and AGL pay $1/kWh up to their caps (200 kWh and 250 kWh a year). GloBird ZEROHERO pays $1 for each day you draw almost nothing from the grid between 6pm and 9pm. Diamond Energy pays a $250 to $450 annual credit plus 30c/kWh on evening exports.
Can I get a battery rebate and join a VPP in Victoria?
Yes. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate (about $2,584 on a 10kWh battery) and VPP participation are separate: you claim the rebate on the battery, then enrol it in a VPP whose battery list includes it.
Which VPPs are open in Victoria?
Origin Loop, AGL, ENGIE, GloBird ZEROHERO, Diamond Energy WATTBANK and Amber all take Victorian customers, and Tesla Electric is open by invitation to Powerwall owners. The old Simply Energy VPP has been retired: Simply Energy now trades as ENGIE.
Is Amber Electric a good VPP option in Victoria?
Amber suits Victorians with a battery and flexible loads who are comfortable with wholesale prices. It charges $25 a month and passes wholesale prices through on both imports and exports, so earnings follow the market rather than a fixed credit.
