How GloBird ZEROHERO works
GloBird connects to your battery via its API. Every day between 11am and 2pm, GloBird charges your battery from the grid at no cost to you (they absorb this against low midday wholesale prices when solar generation floods the market). When a VPP event is triggered, your battery exports to the grid and you receive 55c/kWh in bill credits on top of your standard FiT rate. The two-layer payment structure means your solar exports still earn the standard FiT, while your battery exports during grid events earn the premium 55c/kWh rate.
Payment structure
The 55c/kWh VPP event rate applies when GloBird dispatches your battery during grid stress periods. This is paid as a bill credit in addition to whatever feed-in tariff your plan includes. The free daily charging window (11am–2pm) reduces your import costs further. Rates are structured per distributor zone across VIC, NSW, SA, and QLD. GloBird provides Energy Fact Sheets for each zone with the precise rate applicable to your address.
Realistic earnings
At 55c/kWh with 10–20 events per year, a 10kWh battery exporting ~8kWh per event earns $44–$88 from VPP events alone.
