Purpose of Collection

We collect your personal information for the purpose of processing your solar quote request or inquiry. Providing your information is voluntary, however, if you do not provide the requested information, we may not be able to assist you with your solar energy needs.

What We Collect

When you request a quote or make an inquiry, we may collect:

• Your name and contact details (phone number, email address)
• Your property address and postcode
• Information about your energy usage and current electricity bills
• Details about your property (roof type, shading, etc.)

How We Use Your Information

Your information may be used to:

• Process your quote request and provide solar recommendations
• Confirm your mobile number by texting you a one-time code (or calling you with it, if you ask)
• Connect you with SAA-accredited installers in your area
• Keep you informed about solar products, services, rebates, and special offers
• Improve our services and website experience

Sharing Your Information

To provide you with accurate quotes, we may share your information with trusted SAA-accredited solar installers in your area. These partners are required to handle your information in accordance with Australian Privacy Principles. We will not sell your information to third parties for unrelated marketing purposes.

To confirm your mobile number, we may send it to Twilio, a provider based in the United States, which texts you a one-time code (or calls you with it, if you ask). Your number is processed outside Australia for that purpose only.

Free Guide and Email Signups

When you sign up for our free battery sizing guide, we collect your first name, email address and property postcode (so we know which area you are researching for).

We use these details to send you the guide and five follow-up emails from Andy at Why Solar over about two weeks. The follow-up emails include information about our quote-checking and installer-matching services.

We do not share these details with any installer unless you later ask us to introduce you to one. If you do, we handle that request like any other quote request, as described above.

You can stop the emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any of them.

Opting Out

If you no longer wish to receive communications from us, you can opt out at any time by contacting us through our contact page or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send you.
