Solar Battery Queensland 2026
Queensland gets the most solar generation in Australia, which gives a battery plenty to store. The state Battery Booster program has closed, but the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate (about $2,584 on a 10kWh battery) brings a 10kWh system installed for $11,000 down to about $8,416 out of pocket.

Battery storage in QLD
Queensland's sun makes a home battery a strong buy. A Brisbane system generates 20 to 25kWh a day on average, under the highest solar irradiance in Australia, so there is plenty to store for self-consumption and VPP earnings. With the state Battery Booster program closed, the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate is the main financial incentive.
VPP earnings
QLD VPP programs such as AGL and Origin pay $200 to $800 or more a year for sharing stored energy during peak demand events across South East Queensland.
Self-consumption savings
With Brisbane systems generating 20 to 25kWh a day, a battery lets you use your own solar instead of buying grid power at peak rates of 30 to 45c/kWh.

QLD electricity tariffs
Tariff 11 vs tariff 33
Your tariff decides how much a battery saves. Tariff 33 (time of use) charges 30 to 45c/kWh at peak and 15 to 20c/kWh off-peak, which suits battery arbitrage. Tariff 11 is a flat rate of about 25c/kWh.
