Our commitment to homeowners who go solar through a Why Solar network partner.

Our Promise

If you get solar installed through a Why Solar network partner and your system hasn't been installed to the specification you were promised, we'll work with you and the installer to make sure it is.

We maintain a deliberately small network of installers. We don't work with hundreds of companies. We work with the ones we'd trust on our own roofs. That selectivity is what makes this pledge possible: problems are rare, but when they happen, we step in.

How It Works

Talk to your installer first

Most issues are resolved quickly when you raise them directly. Give your installer a reasonable opportunity to fix the problem. Good installers want to get it right.

Contact us if it's not resolved

If you've tried to resolve the issue and your installer hasn't made it right, email us at pledge@whysolar.com.au with details of the issue and your correspondence with the installer.

We assess the situation

We'll review the documentation, inspect the installation if needed, and determine whether the system was installed to the agreed specification. Our assessment is based on the quote you accepted, the Clean Energy Council guidelines, and Australian Standards.

We make it right

If we determine the installation doesn't meet spec, we'll work with the original installer or engage another installer from our network to assess and rectify the work at no cost to you.

Terms

Claim window. You must raise any issue with us in writing within 12 months of the installation date.

Network partners only. This pledge applies only to installations completed by a current Why Solar network partner, arranged through our platform. It does not cover installers listed in our directory who are not part of our network.

Our assessment. We will assess whether the installation meets the agreed specification. Our determination is final regarding whether the pledge applies to your situation.

Site access. You must permit us or our nominated assessor to inspect the installation at your property during reasonable business hours.

Remedy. Where we determine the pledge applies, we will work with the original installer or engage another qualified installer to rectify the work. Our obligation is limited to rectification of the installation to the agreed specification.

Funding. We fund this pledge from our own revenue. It is not an insurance product.

Consumer law. This pledge does not replace or limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Your statutory consumer guarantee rights are between you and the installer/retailer who sold you the system. We are not a party to that contract. Nothing in this pledge should be read as us accepting liability under the ACL or any other legislation.

Why We Can Offer This

Most solar comparison platforms work with hundreds of installers and generate revenue from lead volume. That model doesn't incentivise quality, it incentivises quantity.

We work differently. Our network is deliberately small. We vet installers on workmanship, customer service, licensing, insurance, and track record. We don't accept every installer who applies. That means we can stand behind the ones we do accept.

We're not owned by an energy retailer. We don't profit from your electricity bill. Our only incentive is that your installation goes well, because that's what keeps our reputation intact and our business running.
